Subject: Marriage Registers UK
Hello all,
If you cast your minds back to October 2011 there was a discussion regarding the provision of access to marriage registers. It seemed that the GRO were surveying UK archives to understand the extent and access arrangements to marriage registers.
Does anyone know what happened after this process? A colleague has just attended a meeting which involved the GRO and they stated that their legal team would be investigating the legality of other bodies offering access and copies from the post 1837 marriage registers.
Does anyone know where this is likely to end up? Does it really include parish copies?
Thanks
