Hi there, and a Happy New Year to the list members!
I wanted to draw your attention to a meeting I am organising around Linked Data. It will be specifically for archives involved in Linked Data projects, to be held at the JISC offices in central London on 7th February. It will represent current Linked Data projects: Locah/Linking Lives (http://archiveshub.ac.uk/linkinglives/), Step Change/Open Metadata Pathway (http://openmetadatapathway.blogspot.com/) and SALDA (http://blogs.sussex.ac.uk/salda/).
We have a few places on the day for anyone with an interest in contributing to our discussion. I should emphasise that this is not an introduction to Linked Data event, but a means for us to share what we have done, look at opportunities for working together and jointly benefit from all of our work and experiences (around things like data models, URI patterns, use of vocabularies). If you have some knowledge of Linked Data, and feel that you would like to be involved in the meeting, please could you contact me? We're really keen to work together as a community on Linked Data, not least because of the challenges it raises and the learning curve involved in this work. We want to start to draw together our experiences to help assess the benefits of Linked Data, and I am keen to provide JISC, our funders, with as much feedback as we can about the pros and cons of the Linked Data approach.
The meeting is free to attend and lunch will be provided.
with best wishes,
Jane.
