I would like to ask for advice on the subject of managing master scans.
We have an in-house programme of producing master scans of our collection. We scan originals on an Epson scanner at 400dpi. We then use adobe photoshop to straighten any wonky images, save as master Tiff files, and convert to jpegs of differing resolutions as required.
My question is: do any other archive offices use software other than adobe photoshop for this? Also, can you watermark images using the other software?
Thanks for any information, which will be most gratefully received. I just wondered whether I am a mindless slave to adobe or whether it really is the best/only choice for my purposes.
Yours,
