Good evening to all members of the ‘Anthropology-Matters’ mailing list.
My name is Stefano delgi Uberti. I just subscribe to the list and I am coming to you with a brief personal introduction.
I am very happy to be part of the list and I will try to contribute to its development.
I obtained a BA in Social Sciences and Literature at the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari (2004), submitting a dissertation which explores the processes of social integration of Senegalese migrants in Italy. Afterward I completed the MA in Anthropology of Development and Social Transformation at the University of Sussex (2007) where I deepened the relationship between Migration and Development. In particular, I devoted my MA research on the ethnographical and discursive analysis on how the Migration-Development nexus is addressed within the EU’s policy agenda and among some Senegalese migrant associations in Italy.
Last May (2011) I discussed my Phd thesis in Anthropology concerning the analysis of phenomenon of "clandestine pirogue migrations" from Senegal.
At present I am collaborating as a research consultant with a layer and professor of the of the university of Parma at the EU funded project: Intercuture, Integration, Law. Intercultural cooperation, territorial administration and juridical praxis between police headquarters and migrant collectivities from non-EU countries”.
My research interests, mainly addressed through social-anthropological perspective, focus on:
- Migration-Development nexus (focus on EU-Africa international cooperation);
- Migratory processes and social transformations in urban areas;
- Anthropological perspectives on migration laws (interrelationship between local authorities and migrants);
- Social issues on Irregular and transit migration (with particular knowledge on Senegalese migratory processes);
- Migration and Media representations;
My institutional email address is [log in to unmask] However, I used to prefer receiving information on the [log in to unmask] because the email of the University of Bergamo has often some troubles.
I thank you for your attention, hoping to sharing with you knowledge and competences.
Kindest regards,
Stefano degli Uberti
