Professor/Reader in Quantitative Research in Education, University of
Bristol (vacancy ref. 16859)
As part of its strategy to advance quantitative research in the social
sciences, the University is seeking to appoint an outstanding researcher
with interests in the development and/or application of advanced
quantitative methods to any aspect of educational research. The appointment
will be made at the Reader or Professor level and will be held in the
Graduate School of Education, and will involve working closely with the
Centre for Multilevel Modelling and others within the School and Faculty.
Candidates should have a track record in leading social research using
advanced quantitative research methods. Applications are particularly
encouraged from candidates with experience of handling large and complex
datasets, and with expertise in multilevel modelling, longitudinal data
analysis or structural equation modelling. It is not a requirement that
quantitative expertise has been applied to education, although candidates
will be expected to demonstrate how their experience and expertise will be
applied to educational issues. Candidates should also be willing and
enthusiastic to further strengthen postgraduate teaching in quantitative
methods both within the School and the wider Faculty.
