The Wales Cancer Trials Unit (WCTU) is a National Cancer Research Institute accredited and Cancer Research UK core funded clinical trials unit based in the School of Medicine at Cardiff University responsible for the co-ordination of a number of national randomised trials in cancer treatment. The group currently numbers around 40 staff, including statisticians, trial managers, data managers, quality assurance managers and programmers.
We are seeking to attract a Senior Statistician/Statistician with a postgraduate degree in statistics. Experience in the analysis of large data sets and in the use of SAS and/or STATA is essential. Excellent computer and communication skills are needed as well as the ability to become familiar with the relevant literature (clinical trials and cancer).
Depending on your grade, you will either be the Scientific Lead at the WCTU for a specific disease area(s), responsible for the development of the trial portfolio in that area, or you will work with the Scientific Lead as trial statistician. This may include phase 1, phase 2 and phase 3 trials. You will be responsible for all statistical aspects of designing, running and reporting of trials, ensuring that all trials are run to regulatory requirements.
Opportunities exist for methodological research of practical relevance to the work of the Unit.

This post is fixed-term for 16 months.
Salary: £29853 - £35646 per annum. (Grade 6)
£37839 - £43840 per annum. (Grade 7)
