Senior Statistician
Grade 8: 36,862 . 44,016 (with discretionary range to 48,096)
A senior statistician/epidemiologist is required to work with the
Monitoring and Diagnosis Group and the Clinical Trials Unit within the
Department of Primary Care Health Sciences.
The senior statistician will lead the development and validation of
statistical models for clinical risk prediction as statistical modeller
and a project manager; and within the Clinical Trials unit, contribute to
protocol development, ensure statistical analysis plans are in place for
studies and take overall responsibility for study analysis. You will
also supervise more junior statisticians, prepare manuscripts for
publication, contribute to writing grant proposals and lead the
development of a methodological research programme.
With a PhD in statistics or equivalent experience, you will have
experience working as a medical statistician and supporting clinical
trials or similar studies. You will be able to conduct statistical
analyses and use statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, SAS, S-plus or
R. Good communication, management and team-working skills are essential.

Statistical/Epidemiological Modeller
Grade 7: 29,099 to 35,788 (with discretionary range up to 39,107)
An opportunity has arisen for a statistical/epidemiological modeller to
join a busy team of statisticians working on projects relating to
prognosis and diagnosis with the Monitoring and Diagnosis Group in the
Department of Primary Care Health Sciences.
Duties will include development and validation of statistical models for
clinical risk prediction; providing statistical support to researchers and
students across the department, including contributing to writing grant
proposals and disseminating research findings. There will also be
opportunities to participate in teaching.
With a Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, you will have
experience in statistical modelling (e.g. linear, logistic or Cox
regression); a proven ability to apply statistical analyses to medical
research and be able to use statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, SAS,
S-plus or R. Good communication and team-working skills are essential.
