Dear Allstat,
The next Annual Meeting for Teachers of Medical Statistics("Burwalls") will be held at the University of Manchester, Wednesday 4th July to Friday 6th July 2012.
Burwalls is a small meeting with the aim of encouraging and equipping those responsible for teaching statistics (and evidence based medicine) to
medical students and health care professionals, and is the only one of its kind in the UK. This is also an opportunity to chat with others working in the same area, find out what other medical schools are doing and pick up a few tips.
From Manchester we can already confirm Prof. Chris Roberts talking on his ten years experience of teaching medical statistics to mathematics undergraduates and Dr. Liz Andrew demonstrating how to use 'Clickers' for a more interactive lesson. From further afield, Prof. Martin Bland will be speaking about the Statistics Notes series in the BMJ and Dr. Jenny Freeman will be giving tips on how to present.
This will take place at Behren's House, a grade II listed building on the University’s Fallowfield campus. Costs are similar to last year: £180 for non-residential delegates (includes all meals) and £260 for residential delegates (includes all meals and en suite accommodation immediately adjacent to the meeting venue).
Registration forms are available from Annie Herbert ([log in to unmask]). Please direct any queries to the same address. In order to maintain an informal atmosphere, institutions wishing to send more than one delegate should discuss this with us before registering.
The deadline for registration is April 4th, 2012.
Thanks,
Annie
