Training Opportunities at Lancaster Postgraduate Statistics Centre
SHORT COURSES IN STATISTICS, MSC/MRES IN QUANTITATIVE METHODS AND PHD IN APPLIED SOCIAL STATISTICS
We are bringing to your attention several training opportunities in statistics and research methods. Please can you circulate this message to anyone who may be interested in your department.
The MSC IN QUANTITATIVE METHODS for Science, Social Science and Medicine which may be taken either full-time or part-time. This course provides training in the application of quantitative methods to a wide range of problems and has a strong practical emphasis. The MSc comprises a taught module component (120 credits) and a dissertation (60 credits). It may also be taken part-time by your PhD students or research staff as a PgCert (60 credits) or PgDip (120 credits). Further details of the MSc/PgDip/PgCert are available at:

Each taught module also serves as a stand-alone CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SHORT COURSE. More information on our short course programme may be found at:

At the discretion of the Director of Studies, short course participants may accumulate credits leading to a formal qualification. As mentioned above, 120 and 60 credits worth of taught modules will lead to the Diploma and Certificate in Quantitative Methods respectively.

The MSc also serves as a prelude to the PHD IN APPLIED SOCIAL STATISTICS. There are (+3) and (1+3) PhD studentships in Applied Social Statistics available through the ESRC's North West Doctoral Training Centre (NWDTC). More details on these NWDTC studentships are available at:
