We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced epidemiologist to join a physical activity research group of epidemiologists and statisticians examining the determinants of accelerometer-based measures of physical activity in a large population-based sample of seven year old children participating in the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS). The MCS is a longitudinal survey of the social, economic and health-related circumstances of more than 18,000 children born in the UK and followed since the first year of life.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking and interpreting statistical / epidemiological analyses of these unique data as a member of the research group currently working on the pre-specified hypotheses for this project. This is a unique opportunity for an epidemiologist to gain further experience in analyses of complex longitudinal data in an area of major public health importance for children.
This post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is initially funded until 31 May 2013.
Candidates must be educated to degree level and have an MSc, or equivalent experience, in epidemiology, medical statistics or related field. Knowledge and skills in developing and carrying out epidemiological analyses; and, publications in peer-reviewed journals are essential.
