Agree another test like CRP that gets used often without thought and risk assessment. A problem for us in that to save time in patient flow bloods get done which may not be indicated. Personally I will assess the patient myself and decide whether the test was appropriate. Though not easy if d-dimer is significantly elevated.
No easy solutions as not sure we can restrict its use.
