Manchester University Press is a leading academic publishing house producing around 140 outstanding new books and 14 journals each year in the humanities, history and the social sciences. Working in our busy Editorial Department, you will co-ordinate our growing journals portfolio, and manage all related editorial processes to ensure timely publication, including liaison with publication editors and contributors. The role also involves assisting in the commissioning of additional titles, contract administration, distribution, marketing and finance.
The job requires a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, together with substantial experience in academic publishing and a proven track record in journals management.
The successful candidate will be experienced in using online web-based journals management software and working with online journal content distribution platforms, and have some experience of journals marketing and of working with key subscription agents. Applicants should be experienced in the development and use of in-house ad-hoc administrative, scheduling, and reporting systems using MS Office software, particularly Access and Excel.
The role demands excellent organisational ability, fast and accurate keyboard skills, attention to detail, ability to work as part of a team and good communication skills.
