Women's Media Studies Network /MeCCSA Practice Section event
We are very pleased to feature filmmaker Jan Dunn in conversation with Rona Murray (Lancaster University). Chair will be Professor Heather Nunn.
This event takes place during the MeCCSA conference on Thursday 12th January 2012 from 3-4.30pm, University of Bedfordshire. Registration for the MeCCSA conference is required for entry: http://www.beds.ac.uk/meccsa/registration
Jan Dunn is an award winning British filmmaker, who made her feature length directorial debut in 2005 with the film Gypo, starring Paul McGann and Pauline McLynn, which won a British Independent Film Award for Best Production. It was the first British film to be made under the Dogme 95 rules. Her second film Ruby Blue, starring Bob Hoskins and Josiane Balasko was released in UK cinemas in 2008. She wrote and directed her third feature film, The Calling, starring Brenda Blethyn, Susannah York, Rita Tushingham, Pauline McLynn and Amanda Donohoe, released in UK cinemas 2010. She is currently adapting for film Rose Tremain's best-selling novel Sacred Country. The session will include clips from Jan's films.

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
