Independent and Labour members of the House of Lords are tomorrow trying, once again, to stop the reduction in money going to disabled children under the welfare reforms. Government Minister, David Freud, has justified this reduction by saying that the gap between what disabled children on lower and middle rates of Disability Living Allowance get. and what they will then get under the new Universal Credit system as they move into adulthood is too large - so the solution is to get them used to living in poverty as that's what's in store when they are adults. http://jennymorrisnet.blogspot.com/2012/01/logic-of-reducing-benefits-for-disabled.html
