I think there are two different topics being discussed and getting mixed up here... Lilian's response unless I'm wrong was about uploading files and problems with college settings etc not about TTS not working in IE9.

Also it seems like the TTS issue is not an OS issue just an IE9 issue e.g. TTS works fine on 64bit Windows 7 with IE8. Because IE8 is still far more common on college machine than IE9 I don't really want to upgrade to the latter on my main laptop so can't test the suggested solution for TTS with IE9 at the moment but might try it on a different machine and report back.

Thanks Lilian - those of us on Windows XP want to know what we've got coming!

Hi Kevin
I came across this situation twice before at Colleges and both times it was related to the College Windows servers and how they perceive uploading of files to Xerte. Not sure if this helps. I will put you in touch with someone who may be able to share their experience of working out what it was in case it's a similar issue. If so, you can summarise it here for others.

cheers
lilian

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have gone through the suggested actions but it is still not working for me. I am not sure if there is anything else going on on my computer that might be stopping it from working, i'd be interested to hear how others get on with this solution.

Thanks

Can those of you on Windows 7 try Bill's suggestion and see if it does the trick for you?

Thanks

This appears to me to be a security issue with the creation of the object..

Once the site is added to the trusted sites list, Text to Speech works in normal IE9 mode for me on the demo of Xerte. At first load you will be prompted to allow ActiveX object to run (OK). Go to Tools->Internet
Options->Security->Trusted Sites and add the site hosting the ILO to
the list. Reopen the ILO and you should then get a warning about running an ActiveX control (see attached). Once I did that, I got TTS of the titles (I guess that is correct function).
