Sorry if this isn't the right forum to ask this. I'm looking for people
who have experience with running a converged network for building
services (bms, security, cctv etc) and their normal data network,
particularly in the research community.
I've been asked to advise on a project and the facilities people are
insisting on a separate physical network for their BMS, this will run
over the same infrastructure (fibres utp etc) but on independent switch
gear.
This seems a bit ridiculous as there will already be an investment in a
resilient data network for the institute.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone's got experience of running this
sort of converged network, good or bad.
Thanks,
Jonathan Nicholson
