Postdoctoral Research Associate in CMB polarization
The Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics (JBCA), part of the School of
Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester invites
applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in the
extragalactic and observational cosmology group. The starting date is
1st April 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful
candidate will work with Dr. Michael Brown on the analysis of current
CMB polarization experiments and the design of future facilities
focussed on CMB B-mode detection.
The JBCA is currently involved in a number of world-leading CMB projects
including the Planck, QUIET, QUIJOTE, LSPE and CBASS projects and is
closely involved in the planning of next generation facilities. We are
looking for a PDRA who is an expert in data analysis and/or instrument
design, but applications based on experience of other aspects of CMB
research are also welcome.
This position is funded by an ERC Starting Grant with associated
research funds for travel, computing and other expenses. The initial
appointment will be for a period of two years with the possibility of
extension. The starting salary will be in the range GBP 29,099 to
GBP 35,788 p.a. depending on experience.
