MAN OPENS FIRE
separating leaves’
heat from COLOURING;
each PAIN from its ASH;
THEN from changing NOW
AND RECOLLECTION;
and SAFE from UNSAFE.
Going in quite deep,
with smooth finger tips,
he works at what seems
to be an essence
or at least its home
till it all crumbles.
He gives out pieces
on the burning town,
which receives bundles
of DISASTER and
OPPORTUNITY
in hope shivering.
Later, there will be
a full body count
and a multitude
of observations.
After the mourning
there will be lectures
on reappraisal
of received meaning.
If necessary,
he’ll open fire
again other days.
