Fixed-Term Lecturing Opportunity in Journalism – Coventry University
Coventry University Dept of Media is seeking fixed-term teaching staff in Journalism to cover a three-month sabbatical absence from January to April 2012. The post-holder should have specific interests in the following areas: i) Global/international journalism practice – especially experience covering events and subjects of global interest or from a global perspective for any outlet with a national and/or global focus; ii) journalism-society relations and tensions; iii) theories/concepts, themes/ issues/ controversies/ ethics; media and communication research methods – with a focus on journalism, especially familiarity with textual analysis methods and research project supervision.
Core tasks will commence in January with main responsibilities from week beginning 23rd January to end of March 2012, over three days – Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Duties include delivery of lectures and seminars and individual and group tutorials, with some module administration; as well as marking of formative and summative assignments at BA final-year and MA levels. The post-holder should have at least a relevant Masters degree with appropriate journalism practice experience; successful completion or near-completion of a relevant PhD programme of study would be an advantage.
The nature of contract (Hourly paid /fractional) will be agreed with successful candidate(s); it may be the case that more than one individual will cover the areas listed above.
