Noted in particular for the significance and impact of research undertaken
by staff specialising in film, contemporary performance practice,
television and theatre, Drama: Theatre, Film, Television has long been a
leading department. Major grants have been attained by staff developing
innovative research areas including practice as research in performance and
screen, the history of colour film technologies and the impact of
high-resolution digital cinematography. Candidates' research strengths may
be in any area of film and/or television aesthetics, criticism, theory,
history, or practices, including world cinema. The successful applicant
will join staff that work in a broad range of areas of Film and Television
and Performance/Theatre Studies. Currently, research expertise in Film and
Television includes histories and theories of national and trans-national
cinemas; film style and aesthetics; the technologies and aesthetics of
colour in cinema; film and television reception; animation; documentary
theory and practice; television drama and digital new media. The Department
is a vibrant creative community of scholars and production staff working
across, and between, stage and screen. The Department offers traditional
scholarship based on the opportunity for original archive-based research,
in many cases combined with a commitment to practice-as-research that
supports the production of new work in screen media and performance.
Grade : Level b in Pathway 1
Salary : £33,734 - £37,990
