On 26 January Creating Capacity brings back Archival Collections: How to
collect, work with, and manage the archives in your care by popular demand.
This course is ideal for those who have archival collections in their care
but are not trained archivists. It will provide an overview on the main
elements of good archival collection care and all the issues that are
essential to ensure the archive is managed, stored and accessible. By the
end of the day participants will:
o Understand what archives are and how they differ from other collection
types
o Know how to collect archive material in a professional manner, including
writing your own collecting policy
o Have a basic understanding of how to approach cataloguing archives and the
relevant standards
o Have a basic understanding of how to store and handle archives and the
relevant standards
o Have an appreciation of how to meet the needs of different user groups
Our expert trainer on this practical and interactive day is Elizabeth
Oxborrow-Cowan (RMARA), consultant Archivist and qualified management
consultant. She advises on the care and development of archive services in
the UK to archivists, heritage managers, senior decision-makers and policy
bodies.
To book your place on this course just click on the link to be taken
