Morning everyone!
Culture24 is delighted to introduce Connect10 as part of Museums at Night 2012. Connect10 is a new national competition for venues to win an artist-led evening event and £500 towards the costs. One of ten exciting contemporary artists could be on the way to your venue on the weekend of 18th - 20th May 2012.
Photographers Martin Parr and Terry O'Neill, and Jellymongers Bompas & Parr join Connect10
The first artists to confirm their participation in the competition are iconic photographers Martin Parr and Terry O'Neill, together with the jelly sculptors Bompas & Parr. We'll confirm the full list of artists taking part by Christmas, and venues can start submitting their event ideas first thing in the New Year.
How does it work?
You devise an event idea or theme that you think would demonstrate a strong connection between one of the artists taking part and your venue, and submit the event plan to us at Culture24. We'll choose the best ideas so that each artist will end up with either two or three venues vying for them. We'll then let the public decide which artist goes where.
Once public voting begins, your venue will need to use every communication method available to get as many people as possible to vote for your venue/event/artist combination. The idea with the most votes wins that artist-led event and prize money!
The prizes
Every one of the venues taking part in the public vote will receive a bursary towards the running costs of their Connect10 Museums at Night event. The venues which win will receive £500 towards the cost of holding their event. Even the venues that don't win the public vote will get £100 to support them in staging an alternative Museums at Night event.
