Dear All,
At Warwick, we are currently trying to set up access to the ThomsonONE
database that Laurence emailed about in February. We're having major
problems with this as the database won't currently work with our proxy
server (Innovative's Web Access Management) or with Shibboleth in the
usual way.
As Laurence said in his message Thomson aren't members of the UK
Federation and don't seem to be interested in joining. This means that
each institution that wishes to use Shibboleth to authenticate has to
set things up specifically for this database rather than just getting
the supplier to do the necessary at their end as with SPs that are
members of the Federation.
If anyone else is considering subscribing or setting up access to this
resource could you please try to emphasise how important it is that they
join the Federation as this makes setting up access so much easier? If
Thomson keep receiving this message from different customers I'm hoping
they might respond. Also, if there is anything that Nicole and Mark can
do to persuade them to join the Federation we would really appreciate
it.
Thanks,
James.

Hello,
We've just subscribed to a financial data service called ThomsonONE from
Thomson Reuters. It's not in the UK access management federation, and it
doesn't sound like they have any intention of joining it. But to log our
users in they require us to authenticate the user and POST a SAML2
response. If anyone has used their Shibboleth 2 IdP to do this for
ThomsonONE, could you offer some advice?
Thanks,
Laurence Lockton
