italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
CALL FOR VOLUME CONTRIBUTIONS
We are seeking essays in English to include in a co-edited volume tentatively titled 'The Politics of Poetics: Poetry and Social Activism in Early-Modern through Contemporary Italy,' to be published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing.
The volume, based on two panels that we recently co-chaired at SAMLA 2011 but open to scholars who did not participate in the conference, will explore the relation between poetry and society in Italian literature. Papers that consider specific poets who have been socially active through their work, different movements and manifestos and their connection to social activism, as well as poetry anthologies and the effect that they have had on the Italian literary canon are welcome.
By Dec. 12th, please submit a 500-word essay abstract to Federica Santini, Kennesaw State University, at [log in to unmask] and Giovanna Summerfield, Auburn University, at [log in to unmask]
Timeline: receipt of essay abstracts by Dec. 12, 2011; notification concerning inclusion in the volume by Dec. 30, 2011.
Best Regards,
Federica and Giovanna
