My client has identified the need for a professional trained in GIS Analysis and Database Administration to provide support to the engineering team. The candidate will have a well developed understanding of Geographical Information Systems, Data Management. It is likely that the successful candidate will come from an offshore surveying background with experience in areas such as geophysical and geotechnical surveys.
The candidate must be an adaptable team player having the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and with strong technical and analytical skills plus solid experience using ESRI GIS products.
The role will entail:
Working as a GIS analyst and being the main point of contact for GIS support to the project.
Developing and maintaining GIS project databases
Process survey data and upload to GIS project database
Generating customised maps for project team.
Responding to project queries on daily basis.
Cooperating with engineers to perform multi-discipline tasks.
Providing data input for the provision of technical reports
Participating in project meetings and workshops.
Generating presentations, posters, etc. when required.
Training & mentoring in GIS
Carrying out satellite image interpretation tasks such as:
Band composition
Supervised and un-supervised classification.
Expereince Required:
Degree qualified in relevant Geoscience discipline.
Over 5 years of experience in ESRI ArcGIS products and AutoCAD. ESRI ArcGIS 3D Analyst experience is a requirement.
Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry preferred.
Good technical working experience of relational SQL Server database technology
Technical experience with ESRI product suite including ArcGIS Server Technologies (ArcSDE) and ArcGIS Desktop
Good working knowledge of coordinate systems, transformations and projections is essential.
Be familiar with main commercial data providers and their data formats.
Strong skills in processing digital elevation models and performing terrain analysis.
Ability to utilise, interpret and spatial analysis of satellite imageries is an advantage.
Land Surveying skills would be an advantage. (Total station, GPS, and associated software.
Remote sensing experience an advantage.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver team goals.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Able to make presentations to clients and to prepare high quality reports.
Must have the right to work in the UK!! This is not open to expats!!
