Postgraduate studentships 2012
The University of Birmingham (IGS/German Studies) is offering fully funded PhD places by competition in the following areas for projects beginning in September 2012:
European Language and Culture (AHRC studentship; deadline for applications 27 January 2012)
Cultural Studies (AHRC studentship; deadline for applications 27 January 2012)
European Studies (ESRC studentship; deadline 29 February 2012)
Fully funded University studentships are also available for overseas (non-EU) students in any area of study with a first class honours or equivalent undergraduate qualification (deadline 13 January 2012).

Joint primary supervision across disciplines (literature/history/politics/film) is possible. Postgraduates have the opportunity to participate actively in the current research projects of the IGS/German Studies, as well as to join and organize a range of activities involving the DAAD's centres for German Studies worldwide (http://www.daad.de/deutschlandzentren).
