The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences <http://www.jcu.edu.au/ees/>
at James Cook University seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Associate
Professor in any field of geology that will complement the school's existing
strengths in economic geology, geochemistry, and tectonics. The research
output of the school is highly ranked in Geology and Geochemistry, and
supported by world class analytical facilities. The school has a long
tradition of excellence in Economic Geology, maintained through the Economic
Geology Research Centre. This post is offered at an exciting time in which
the mineral resource sector in northern Queensland is expanding rapidly and
student numbers are increasing, with further opportunity for growth.
Experience in numerical modelling, analytical geochemistry and/or mineral
exploration will be viewed favourably, as will connections with the
exploration and mining industries, and knowledge of the geoscience of energy
resources (e.g. coal seam gas). A strong background in GIS will be
particularly useful.
