Richard, you are right, I did not know it was a place-name - I was over-influenced by the previous one I'd been looking at being of WILLI DE NETERVILE, also Isle of Wight, which I hope is Netherfield in Sussex (or Notts, or Milton Keynes?) (http://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/434932). (Any opinions on Netervile of course gladly received).
