University of Latvia, Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities is
seeking two full-time lecturers for Spring semester 2012:
Lecturers are needed to teach anthropology courses at BA and MA level.
1st position:
1) Anthropology of Religion (BA course)
2) Transformation of Borders, Migration (MA course)
3) Ethnography course (MA course)
2nd position:
1) Political Anthropology (BA Course)
2) Methods in social/ cultural anthropology (BA course)
3) Anthropology of Consumption (MA course)
The position requires teaching an average of 3 courses during the Spring
2012 semester and supervising students' work in research course. This is not
a research position, yet the selected applicant will be encouraged and
supported to submit grant proposals to the University of Latvia, Latvian
Council of Science and international grant competitions.
The Department offers BA and MA level studies in Social and Cultural
Anthropology with a specific focus on the Baltic region, politics and

Rank and salary: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation
and experience and subject to the University of Latvia budgetary
authorization.
Date of appointment: Instruction begins on February 6, 2012.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Social/cultural Anthropology. University teaching
experience preferred. Language of instruction - English, knowledge of
Latvian preferred but not obligatory.
