*Two Lecturers in Medical Statistics
Applications are invited for two Lecturers in Medical Statistics in this
Institute with a strong epidemiological and statistical team and an
international reputation for research in preventive medicine. One post
is in the maternal and infant research group, which focuses on the
epidemiology of congenital anomalies, the effectiveness of antenatal
screening for these anomalies and the development of statistical
techniques to analyse data from population based congenital anomaly
registers. The other post focuses on screening for the prevention of
heart disease, (including a new MRC trial screening for familial
hypercholesterolemia), Down Syndrome and cancer. For both posts the
work can, if necessary, extend beyond these areas.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute statistical
expertise to the Centre's research and teaching, share responsibility
for the supervision of various research activities and take on a future
leadership role in the Centre's research. As well as teaching medical
and dental students (pre-clinical and clinical years) the postholders
will also participate in a Statistical Advisory Service offered to
researchers within the Medical College.
The suitable candidates would be expected to have experience in medical
research (with one or more significant publications), teaching and have
a firm grasp of applying quantitative methods to medicine. A
postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc or PhD in Medical Statistics) is
desirable. The appointments will be at Grade 5/6 Academic & Education,
and within the salary range £37,669 -- £46,938 per annum inclusive of
London Allowance, according to experience and qualifications. Benefits

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the
UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to
