grief, my old friend
we walk this familiar path
snow creaks under our boots
the river is low
iced over
this thickening sky
falls into fog
our way is hidden now
we breathe in stars
somewhere the moon
diminishes somewhere
the sun spits out
its brilliant storms
blind here again
carefully we step together
this frozen ground sighs
opens beneath us
