My initial reaction was the same, but then I realized that metamorphic petrology is so robust, even an oak stake through the heart couldn't kill it! (Unfortunately, funding agencies are more toxic than oak stakes...)

> The Metamorphic Studies Group will be holding its Research in Progress meeting and AGM on Wednesday, 21st March, 2012, at the Department of Earth Sciences, Cambridge University. We encourage contributions on any aspect of metamorphic petrology and the link between metamorphism and other geological processes. Presentations from postgraduate students are particularly encouraged and a prize of £200 is offered for the best student presentation. The RIP is a good opportunity to air new developments or ideas, or perhaps to rehearse a presentation for forthcoming meetings. We hope to confirm our invited key note speaker shortly.
