Well, yeah. As an Appalachian 'Merkin, I will say that I don't think we
generally fit the stereotype of blatant self-promotion. We tend to be a
bit quieter and more self-effacing, not a happy thing in the current
culture of academia where we have to shamelessly boast about ourselves to
administrators every year to convince them we're worth keeping around.
Now, them New Yorkers, that's a different story! >:-)
