SEN00229 RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN ACCRETING BLACK HOLES (FIXED TERM
CONTRACT TO 30 JUNE 2013)
University of Leicester
A Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is available in the X-ray
and Observational Astronomy Group at the University of Leicester, which
will support an ongoing project studying the central engines of luminous
accreting black holes using X-ray spectral-timing analysis. A principal
goal will be the analysis and interpretation of X-ray observations of
nearby Seyfert galaxies. It is expected that the programme will also
extend to other types of mass accreting object such as X-ray binaries
and Ultra-luminous X-ray sources. The successful candidate will work
closely with Dr Simon Vaughan, and other members of the Leicester team,
using (for example) data from XMM-Newton, Swift and RXTE. Possibilities
exist for the development of new research areas.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Simon Vaughan on
[log in to unmask] or 0116 252 2074.
The closing date for this post is midnight on 31st December 2011.
We anticipate that interviews will take place in the week commencing
16th January 2012.
