Software Engineer - United Kingdom Astronomy Technology Centre Edinburgh
GPB 33,780 - GBP 37,534 per annum
The UK Astronomy Technology Centre (UK ATC) is an establishment of the
Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), and is the national
centre for the design and production of world leading astronomical
telescopes, instruments and systems. We are seeking to employ an
experienced software engineer with a significant Java development
background to join us in working on one of our major software
projects: observing preparation software for the Atacama Large
Millimeter/ submillimeter Array (ALMA). ALMA is being constructed and
operated by a World Wide consortium. You will join the UK ATC's
Software Group which specialises in the provision of software for all
aspects of astronomical observatories and there may be opportunities
to contribute to other projects. Minimum qualification of a degree in
computing or a physics related discipline, plus several years
experience in relevant software development. Starting salary
dependent on your qualifications and experience.
