Hi everyone,
This is a mathematical enquiry rather than a spss problem.
For my study I need to express in spss database a year into decimals,
obviously half a year 6months would be 0.5, to get 3-4 months i would
split 0.5 by 2 it would be 0.025. But I have various other odd amounts
need translating into spss such as 1 month, 4 months, 7or 8 months etc
would it be common sense to just divide 1 by 12 to get a monthly rate
0.083 to represent each month and just multiply thay by how many
months I need. However, it does not add up equally to a whole number
this way.
Would it be simply be better to just round up the months to quarter
rates eg 5 months round up to half a yr use the 6 month rate,2 months
round up to a quarter of a year 0.025.
I'm confused please help asap
Kind regards
Sarah
