David and Dominic, many thanks. You have both hit on questions which can
expand what Sedgwick has already put forward (which is where the idea
comes from, the homosocial here being structured on the exchange of
women as performance ala Austin)
It also takes me back to Foucault's problems of friendship and
sexuality. I could say more but it is raining here and my boat is
leaking. The problems of a keel stepped mast.
