Hi Sarah
On what evidence is this manager basing his opinion on? The options seem to
be 1.What he thinks would be a good idea or even worse, 2.what someone
else, who is equally uniformed, thinks is a good idea but he is not thinking
about what would be considered to be best practice best practice as
recommended by the Food Standards Agency.
The FSA Food Handlers Fitness to Work is a good place to start - see page
10. There is little point in screening anyone who is asymptomatic. Better to
promote the policy that anyone who is returning to the UK after an overseas
holiday with symptoms of diarrhoea and or vomiting should seek further
advice. You may also have a system where food handlers wishing to return to
work following an episode of D &/or V seek advice from OH.
Just because you don't do what he thinks you should be doing doesn't make
him correct and you wrong.
Best
