Subject: Creating a soundex snippet that can be embedded in a Moodle 2.0 topic
Hello,
I wonder if you could help me in the following query;
One of our tutors has requested to create a soundex app embeded in one of the course topics of Moodle: students are ask to type a word in a box, and then app displays the corresponding soundex equivalent.
I know that php has a soundex function and I know how to create a customized soundex function, using a different algorithm. Yet, what I don't know is how to embed the snippet in a Moodle topic (adding the code as html).
Both using $_get and $_post in the form, I don't know how to embed it in a topic.
I try submitting the form to itself using action="<?php echo $PHP_SELF;?>">, but it is not working either.
Could you please advice?
Thank you very much for your help.
Regards
Mari Cruz

Hi
Does your site actually work at all, or are you still setting it up? What version of Moodle do you have?
We have 1.9.11 on Windows 2008 R2 server and I’ve imported stupid numbers of courses. If the Moodle is set up and running properly then probably can’t help. If you aren’t sure then try copying the permissions from the folder c:/inetpub folder for the user IIS_IUSRS onto your Moodle data folder, that is assuming you haven’t put your data folder in the inetpub folder.
As I said if your site is already running properly then that probably isn’t it. Your php tmp folder will also need IIS_IUSRS to have write capabilities as well.

Subject: Importing/restoring courses not working with IIS7
Hello again,
I don't know if you have ever tried running a Moodle server under IIS, but it is like a nightmare.
I have encountered a new problem when trying to restore/import courses with my Moodle site.
When running the restore.php or import.php files, I get the error message displayed in the page attached.
I can see that it is an error caused by IIS7 and not Moodle and I know that IIS is able to access the web.config file because, when I increased the maximum file size, I had to add a line in the web.config file so that IIS could accept the increase.
Coming from a Linux background, I am not sure about the NFTS permissions and which ones are the correct ones for this kind of requests.
Any advice could be very much appreciated.
