Dear Colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the following symposium on
Expanding Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) Physics II: Novel AMO Physics using advanced laser
technology
http://www.riken.jp/amo/2011_2symposium/Prog_Kanai.htm
to be held at Okochi Hall, RIKEN Advanced Science Institute, Japan on the 2nd of Dec, 2011. The
goals are to bring together the two communities of laser physics and atomic collision physics,
stimulating the exchange of knowledge and opening up a new research field.

[Title]
Expanding Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) Physics II: Novel AMO Physics using advanced laser
technology
[Overview]
Date & Time : Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, 9:15-17:20
Venue : Okochi Hall, RIKEN Advanced Science Institute, Japan
http://www.riken.go.jp/engn/r-world/riken/campus/wako/index.html
Host Lab. : Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics Lab., RIKEN Advanced Science Institute
Co-sponsor : The Society for Atomic Collision Research
[The aim]
During the last decade we have witnessed a dramatic progress in the field of both laser physics and
atomic collision physics. The two communities share a lot of overlapping interests and objectives
in common, while the underlying methodologies and technologies of them are quite different. We
consider that fertile frontiers at the boundary of these two fields should be explored. The aim of
this symposium is to bring together these two communities, stimulating the exchange of knowledge and
opening up a new research field.
