Hi Peter
Hope that you are well and your lamp performing well, nice to see you a few
weeks ago.
I have refrained from a reply to this as I felt that there would be someone
on the list a lot more knowledgeable than I on this subject, anyway.
The Elmore Flotation Process was developed by the brothers Alexander Stanley
and Frank Elmore, the latter patented the process in 1898. The initial
trials were carried out at Glasdir, and then Sygun and Clogau, all of these
mines in the vicinity of Beddgelert in north Wales.
We are unfortunate that my good friend George W Hall is not on this list, I
will contact you off list with his contact details. If anyone can help you,
George can.
There is also a plan and section of the plant in the late David Bick's book,
"The Old Copper Mines of Snowdonia", unfortunately there is no direct
reference to the source.
Before David died he handed over all of his material to people that he
considered appropriate to receive it, I myself am fortunate to be in
possession of the material relating to the Lisburn mines and in particular
Frongoch, a mine with which I have close associations.
I rather fancy that there is a lot on the Elmore Plant somewhere in private
possession.

Subject: Copper Concentration in England
I am working on the first draft of the Copper section of the NAMHO Research
framework for the Archaeology of Extractive Industries in England, for
English Heritage. Thinking specifically about copper concentration, I would
like to know whether there were any flotation plants built primarily for
copper ores in England?
