At London Metropolitan University on December 7th, Nik Gowing of BBC World News will present an overview of his paper 'A Skyful of Lies' in which he argues that 'the new matrix of real-time information flows and transparency created especially by the explosion of social media' are 'new game changers that challenge mercilessly the inadequacy of the structures of power to respond both with effective impact and in a timely way'.
The lecture represents an opportunity for journalism, media, and communications practitioners, academics, and students to hear, and question, the author of ground-breaking, peer-reviewed, work by a leading figure in global TV News. First published in 2009, 'A Skyful of Lies' can be seen as predicting the trends which defined media in the 'Arab Spring'.
Admission is free, but places are limited, so reservation is essential.
Tickets can be reserved here http://nik-gowing-lecture-poster.eventbrite.co.uk/.
