Hi all,
Here at Staffordshire University, we are looking at updating/revamping our Library inductions for new students (part talk - part hands on at the pc's).
At the moment, we are doing the traditional talk/overview of services, then 'hands-on' - logging on, navigating the desktop, email, library catalogue, library pages/resources, quiz & feedback.
Yes, our feedback from the students is generally good, but my feeling is that the format is beginning to look a little tired. I am also consulting staff elsewhere in the service, our academic colleagues in faculty and of course, the students.
I'd be very interested to hear what others are doing in this regard. Perhaps you also ran this sort of setup in years gone by, but grasped the nettle and did something radically different!
Many thanks,
Shaun Coates
