There is a proposal to close the School of Music at the University of East Anglia and a campaign to prevent this from happening. Find below a link to the TIMES HIGER EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIMENT.

This is particularly unfortunate at a time when jazz study and research is beginning to really take off here at the UEA. We officially opened the UEA Jazz Archive in August this year. We also hosted the National Youth Jazz Collective Summer School this year and will be doing so again next year. My own research is finally getting out there (Jazz Perspectives 2011), but it was too late for this to impact on the review. They used the 2008 research figures.
It would be good if you could send a letter in support of the School of Music UEA which may assist us in getting the Senate to reconsider the review panel’s recommendation on the 9th November.
If you can think of anyone/organizations that you can circulate this to who may be able to write in support then please do circulate as widely as possible, and ask them to send the letters (as email attachments) to me at [log in to unmask] and I will get them in the right hands.
You can also register your support at http://saveueamusic.org/
Thanks in advance,
Vic Hobson
