Cherry, with apologies to all recipients - I have added to the two
James Parkinsons confusion in the email I sent out earlier today.
Clearly, my paragraph three "Parkinson, Surgeon of Hoxton" refers to
the author of "Remains of a former world". As Kaeppler explains,
James Parkinson (1755 - 1824) the surgeon and our author, did buy at
the 1806 Leverian sale, but so did James Parkinson (1730-1815), owner
of the Leverian Museum who was buying in at the sale, although
usually under the name "Carrudas" or as "Q". My opening sentence
also conflates both Parkinsons under "his collection"!
Hopefully, some of the information I sent previously will enable you
to sort this out properly in due course....
