Conference “Worlds on Paper: Writing Natural History from Gessner to Darwin”, Linnean Society London, January 12-13, 2012
The Linnean Society (London) will host an international conference January 12-13, 2012, that brings together scholars to discuss how practices of processing written information have shaped conceptions of the natural world in the past. The conference will investigate how day-to-day practices of assembling information on natural objects and their medical properties influenced taxonomic procedures, the developing idea of a natural system, and, in the long run, concepts of biodiversity and bioprospecting.
