Hello list,
I'm evaluating a set of hardware upgrade options and would like to
know if anyone has had the opportunity of running the FEEDS test suite
on a Phenom II X6 1100T or perhaps even a Bulldozer FX 8150/8120 CPU?
Do you think the additional cores make up for the rather lackluster
integer performance as compared to an i5-2500, leave alone an i7-2600?
If floating point performance was critical, maybe the Phenom X6 is the
best choice, as it sports 6 FPUs?! I am planning on installing SGE and
lots of RAM (ideally 32GB) in order to run as many jobs in parallel as
possible. My current rig (Intel Q6600 @3Ghz w/ 8GB RAM running Ubuntu
Linux 11.04 64bit) finishes the FEEDS "RUN all" in 1623sec user time,
but with 8GB there is not much room for concurrent analyses.
Thanks for any input,
Cornelius
