Postdoctoral research scientist position to study plasticity and working memory/cognitive control
The School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks a two-year, full-time postdoctoral scientist to work in the lab of Dr. Chandramallika Basak, at the Center for Vital Longevity, a state-of-the-art research facility, in any of the following areas: functional and structural neuroimaging of cognitive functions; neurocognitive facilitation through cognitive interventions; neural basis of age-related changes in executive control functions and working memory. The candidate must hold an earned PhD and have prior neuroimaging experience, preferably with fMRI.
The principal responsibility will be to conduct fMRI experiments on the working memory updating, cognitive training and neurocognitive facilitation in both young and old adults. This will involve managing participant recruitment, contributing to the scientific design of theexperiments, setting up, piloting and running experiments, data analysis and writing up results for publication in peer reviewed journals.
Applicants should have experience in designing, running and analysing fMRI experiments. Candidates should have solid computing skills, including the use of Linux/Mac and experience with scripting or programming. The applicant should be well organised, be able to communicate well with research participants as well as other members of the scientific team. She/he should be able to work independently and use prior skills and initiative to solve scientific and analytic
problems as they arise. The postdoctoral research scientist will be expected to co-supervise, with the PI, part time research assistants and student assistants who help with data collection and analysis.
