Starkey, Fergusson, Gove - give me the absolute horros. (Max, thanks for circulating the article.) I have sent a letter to the Guardian, but doubt that they will print it. Why don’t others also write?
Would they ever apologise, no. Maybe we should offer them an 'in-service training course'.

Subject: Go on, apologise! Why not? - my response to today's Guardian article
Hi everyone
Have you read the article by Ian Jack, Guardian 19 November, p47?
Four historians, two arguments, nobody dead. Does it matter? Well, yes
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/nov/18/ian-jack-teaching-history-british-empire?
He writes "The empire ... can be taught more honestly than ever before. Neither pride nor apology should come into it."
I say, get them to apologise, and not only that, but get them to make up for all the damage caused.
comments welcome
