Dear all,
We are proud to announce that this year's Young Statisticians' Meeting
will take place in Cambridge from Monday 2^nd -- Tuesday 3^rd April.
This two day conference is aimed at statisticians in the first ten years
of their careers, whether in academia, industry or public service. As
next year is the year of big elections and political changes in the
United States, China, Russia, France and others, we have decided to
encourage an electoral and political statistics theme. Invited speakers
for the plenary talks include Dr. Jouni Kuha from LSE and Professor John
Curtice from Strathclyde University. However, all topics are welcome,
whether financial, medical, or theoretical, and Cambridge's own
Professor David Spiegelhalter will deliver a special lecture on the 2nd
day of the conference.
This is a fantastic opportunity to present and discuss your work with
other young statisticians in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There is
also the advantage of the beautiful and historic location of Cambridge
University, where the conference will be held. Fifteen rooms will be
available on a first come first served basis for those who wish to spend
the nights of Sunday 1^st and Monday 2nd in the famous Queens' college.
There will be a special conference dinner on the evening of Monday 2^nd
, which will be held in the college's 16^th century dining hall.
An early bird price of £120 will be offered, while full fees will be
£140. Attendees are invited to give a talk and/or a poster but are under
no obligation to submit either. You can simply come for the enjoyment of
learning what your fellow researchers are doing.
The provisional timetable for the conference is as follows:
Early bird registration deadline: 13th January 2012
Abstract submission deadline: 20th January 2012
Programme announcement: 10^th February 2012
Registration deadline: 17th February 2012
